1. Placing gov't controls and restrictions on the means of production (surcharges on energy production and transportation/distribution)
2. Making businesses less productive (i.e., charging more for energy, forcing the use of "green" products that are not as good, etc.)
3. Forcing taxpayers to fund global warming radical scientists at the expense of research programs that may benefit society
4. Enabling "green" companies via gov't force (legislation) to develop monopolies, sell indulgences (carbon credits) and otherwise unmarketable products
5. Motivating tremendous sacrifice that will have negligible impact
6. Forcing students to accept, believe and act upon a false human centric ideology
7. Selling a new (or re-packaged) humanistic religion involving a massive state-savior government at its core

Republicans are far more skeptical of “global warming” than of “climate change.” In an experiment conducted as part of a large survey, the researchers found 44 percent of Republicans endorsed the notion that “global warming” is real, but 60.2 percent said the same of “climate change.”

No one in the world exercised more influence on the events leading up to the Copenhagen conference on global warming than Dr Rajendra Pachauri, chairman of the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and mastermind of its latest report in 2007.

Although Dr Pachauri is often presented as a scientist (he was even once described by the BBC as “the world’s top climate scientist”), as a former railway engineer with a PhD in economics he has no qualifications in climate science at all.

What has also almost entirely escaped attention, however, is how Dr Pachauri has established an astonishing worldwide portfolio of business interests with bodies which have been investing billions of dollars in organisations dependent on the IPCC’s policy recommendations.

These outfits include banks, oil and energy companies and investment funds heavily involved in ‘carbon trading’ and ‘sustainable technologies’, which together make up the fastest-growing commodity market in the world, estimated soon to be worth trillions of dollars a year.

Today, in addition to his role as chairman of the IPCC, Dr Pachauri occupies more than a score of such posts, acting as director or adviser to many of the bodies which play a leading role in what has become known as the international ‘climate industry’.

Copenhagen is generally viewed as a abject failure by global warming fear mongers despite President Barack Obama's assertion of an unprecidented breakthrough.  History is being written rather than observed …

As world leaders jet set to give impassioned exaggerated and conjured speeches the reality of ClimateGate was largely ignored.  The Prince of Whales, Prince Charles, Al Gore and numerous others engaged in excessive consumption and carbon emission while sharing their indignation for others who do the same.  Despite the cartoon above, the matter is serious (Mark Steyn):

Yet, in an odd way, that municipal postcard gets to the heart of what's going on: Government can – and will – use a "sustainable" environment as a pretext for anything that tickles its fancy. All ambitious projects – Communism, the new Caliphate – have global ambitions, but, when the globe itself is the cover for those ambitions, freeborn citizens should beware.

Global warming is all about motivating all kinds of government intervention and control, enabling the rise of the state savior and the servitude of its citizens.  Draconian have been proposed that will destroy economies and leave only the elite, such as Al Gore, able to live a life of peace and prosperity.  

Global warming is a manufactured crisis geared to get the world on board to accept all kinds of draconian approaches to "save the planet." It is all about empowering those who want to control mankind in one way or another. Imagine the whole world as China where the population police are at the door dragging mothers to abortion mills and forced sterilization clinics.

One of the major goals of the Copenhagen climate summit is another NIEO shakedown: the transfer of hundreds of billions from the industrial West to the Third World to save the planet by, for example, planting green industries in the tristes tropiques.

Politically it's an idea of genius, engaging at once every left-wing erogenous zone: rich man's guilt, post-colonial guilt, environmental guilt. But the idea of shaking down the industrial democracies in the name of the environment thrives not just in the refined internationalist precincts of Copenhagen. It thrives on the national scale, too.

On the day Copenhagen opened, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency claimed jurisdiction over the regulation of carbon emissions by declaring them an "endangerment" to human health.

Since we operate an overwhelmingly carbon-based economy, the EPA will be regulating practically everything. No institution that emits more than 250 tons of CO2 a year will fall outside EPA control. This means more than a million building complexes, hospitals, plants, schools, businesses and similar enterprises. (The EPA proposes regulating emissions only above 25,000 tons, but it has no such authority.) Not since the creation of the Internal Revenue Service has a federal agency been given more intrusive power over every aspect of economic life.

This naked assertion of vast executive power in the name of the environment is the perfect fulfillment of the prediction of Czech President (and economist) Vaclav Klaus that environmentalism is becoming the new socialism, i.e., the totemic ideal in the name of which government seizes the commanding heights of the economy and society.

As Krauthammer goes on to say, the Big Brother of 1984 is here.  There is no doubt regarding the comprehensiveness of the government control that is desired or the debilitating impact this will have on our constitutional form of government if left unbridled.   The time for Congress to stand-up for our freedom is now.
